The head carries the piece - a single heavy-lidded eye beneath a jutting horn, ears swept back against the skull, a wide mouth crowded with blunt teeth. He stands braced mid-stride on a ruined circular base of cracked flagstones and toppled masonry, one clawed hand open and reaching, the other closed around a slender leaf-bladed spear.
