The right arm drives back low with a short blade reversed along the forearm, the left holds a captured tentacle high, and the torso twists hard between them — obliques bunched, ribs showing under the strain, the whole body caught at the instant before it uncoils. His face is doing the same work: teeth bared, brow low, long hair swept back off a face that is furious rather than heroic. Wrapped bindings run up both forearms, an earring swings clear of the jaw, and a medallion sits at the throat on a cord.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEverything below the belt is texture and threat. A broad buckled belt carries a dagger sheath and a capped drinking horn over a fur-trimmed loincloth, boots planted wide on broken rock. The creature is the reason the piece needs a big base: four thick tentacles rise around him, ridged along their undersides, each one tapering to a splayed star-shaped tip that opens like a flower with teeth.
