You have to invite them in first. This figure model kit from Diklich Art catches Amy Peterson at the moment the invitation stops mattering, coming through a pair of open doors with her jaw already unhinged.
A Doorway, and What Comes Through It
This is a diorama rather than a figure on a plinth, and the architecture earns its keep. The double doors are paneled and grained, hung on hinges with the screw heads cut in, fitted with ornate knobs and escutcheon plates, and framed in fluted casing with carved rosettes at the corners — and every bit of it is finished on both faces, so there is no bad side to turn against the wall. Amy comes through the gap barefoot and mid-stride, her gown a softly draped wrap gathered at the waist by a wide sash and left open down the back to meet it, the skirt dragging behind her across the threshold. Everything above the collarbone is where the horror sits: the jaw distended far past anything human, doubled rows of teeth and fangs around a mouth held wide, pale blank eyes beneath a heavy brow, and both hands lifted with the fingers spread and the nails long.
