The roar drops away and the sand settles. This figure model kit catches a Roman gladiator in the long breath before the gates open again — sculpted by CA 3D Studios, helmeted, armoured on one side and bare on the other, holding his sword upright against his chest.
Armour on One Arm, Nothing on the Other
The whole design turns on that asymmetry, and the sculpt makes a feast of it. His sword arm is sheathed in a laminated manica of overlapping plates running from wrist to shoulder, crowned by a studded and spiked shoulder guard, while his left side is left bare but for a wrapped forearm — the deliberate imbalance the games were built on. Above it sits a superb broad-brimmed helmet: a perforated visor of graduated eye holes, engraved scrollwork across the dome, a riveted neck guard and a tall crest carved along its length with figures in relief. Below the studded belt hangs a skirt of leather straps, and the legs are pure anatomy — long muscle, wrapped shins, and open sandals planted on a broken rock slab that tilts underfoot. It is a historical figure with the presence of a monument, and at 1:6 it stands nearly nineteen inches of it.
