Some men are born to thrones. Conan takes his. This figure model kit from CA 3D Studios catches Conan the Cimmerian at full stride, hair thrown back and teeth bared, one boot planted on the scaled carcass of something that should have known better. Robert E. Howard's barbarian was never a man who stood still, and this sculpt refuses to make him start.

A Sculpt Built on Momentum

The whole figure is composed around movement. The torso twists as the axe swings back, the shield arm drops across the body, and the tattered loincloth and windblown hair trail the motion rather than hang from it. Anatomy carries the piece here, with back, shoulders and forearms cut in the kind of definition that rewards a careful wash, and the gear around it is deliberately worn: a fur-trimmed belt clasped by a snarling skull, studded bracers and thigh straps, boots wrapped and laced to the shin, and a shield split with cracks and patched with riveted plate. Beneath him the base sets broken ground over the coils of a fallen beast. Best of all, the right hand is supplied for either weapon, so you choose the Cimmerian you want on the shelf: the double-bladed axe on its leather thong, or an ornate broadsword with an engraved blade and a decorated guard.
