They come in peace. This Mars Attacks figure model kit gives Diklich Art's treatment to the Martian ambassador of Mars Attacks! (1996), fingertips politely steepled, and to the small dog standing beside him wearing somebody else's head.
Diplomacy, Martian Style
The head is the draw. A great domed cranium sits exposed above the face, every fold and convolution of the brain carved in, and beneath it a grinning skull with hollow eyes and a full set of bared teeth. He wears a high collar that sweeps up behind the head and curls at the tips, a long robe falling in heavy folds to the floor, and segmented sleeve armour ribbed down both forearms. The hands are the whole joke: long bony fingers brought together at the tips in a gesture of perfect goodwill.
The second figure is what makes the piece. Nathalie's head — bobbed hair, chin lifted, mouth open mid-sentence — sits on the body of a small short-haired dog, the join ringed with coarse surgical stitches, tail curled up over its back. Both stand on a rectangular plinth with panel lines and the film's logo raised across the front in its own lettering.
