Napoleon points the way up the mountain. This Napoleon Crossing the Alps figure model kit from Vyra Studio brings Jacques-Louis David's famous painting into three dimensions, setting him on a rearing horse at the edge of a steep, rocky slope, one arm thrown toward the summit and his cloak streaming out ahead of him in the wind.

Horse, Rider and Mountain

The horse carries the motion of the piece: forelegs high off the ground, weight sunk onto its hindquarters, mouth open against the bit, mane and tail whipped sideways in long ropes. The bridle is sculpted down to the curb chains and buckled reins. Napoleon sits it with a hard, level stare beneath a bicorne trimmed with a scalloped, embroidered border and a large cockade. The embroidery carries on across his high collar, coat front and sleeve cuffs, and a tasselled sash knots at his waist above an engraved sabre scabbard. Tall riding boots with spurs, an embossed saddle cloth and a cloak that sweeps up over the horse's neck finish the figure. The whole group stands on a sloping outcrop of broken rock set into an oval, stepped plinth. Horse, rider, cloak and base are split into separate sections for printing and assembly, and the parts render shows the full breakdown.
