Woven, Stitched and Crawling
The whole read of this sculpt is surface. A burlap weave runs unbroken across the entire body — warp and weft picked out thread by thread over the belly, the shoulders, the hood and the curled point of the cap — with heavy stitched seams closing the sack down one side. The hood throws a shadow over a hollow face with the eyes sunk deep inside it. His raised hand opens into a mass of sculpted insects, which is the detail that tells you what the sack is holding. Around his feet the base carries pumpkins, a jack-in-the-box with the cat sprung out on its coil, a wrapped present and a bat, all inside a cobblestone rim behind the film's logo headstone.
