Seti's mistress, and the only bodyguard he ever needed. This Anck-Su-Namun figure model kit gives Diklich Art's treatment to the painted priestess of The Mummy Returns (2001), Patricia Velazquez caught mid-turn with a curved blade in each hand and her guard already up.
Sacred Paint, Beaded Braids and Twin Blades
The paint is the sculpt here. What the film applied with a brush is carved into the resin instead, a field of overlapping scales running across the chest and belly and breaking into fine ruled lines down the arms and the wrapped skirt, so the pattern reads even before a drop of colour touches it. Her wig falls straight and heavy to the waist, its side locks bound into beaded braids, and a cobra rears from the crown of her head. A broad banded collar sits at her throat above a pectoral ornament; a winged falcon clasps her upper arm; cuffs close her wrists and beaded rings her ankles. The skirt is a striped linen wrap, split high at the thigh and gathered under a rope belt strung with beads. She stands on a stepped stone plinth set with a carved disc, an Anubis-headed canopic jar at her feet with a relief procession worked around its body, and the sculptor's name cut into the back of the rim. Optional hands take either the khopesh-style swords she holds here or a pair of sai, their prongs shaped into serpents and a scarab set at the guard.
