Ears, Nose and a Very Old Grin
Diklich Art keeps the proportions cartoon and the surface entirely serious. A bald dome rises to a single point of hair drawn straight up, with two great shaggy sweeps blown out sideways past a pair of enormous wrinkled ears — the ears alone carry more sculpting than most busts manage all over. The face beneath is built from spheres: a ball nose, two round cheeks, hooded eyes squeezed almost shut above a closed-lipped grin that has plainly heard the joke before. Below the chin a gathered collar spreads wide and is trimmed the whole way round with a ring of soft pompoms, then drops onto a plain drum and a plinth carrying a star, bulb studs and his name. Two parts, and nearly all of the work is in the skin. Wrinkles this deep are why collectible resin figures like this one repay a wash-and-glaze approach rather than flat colour.
