The coils are still humming when she opens her eyes. This Bride of Frankenstein figure model kit from CA 3D Studios is an original take on the most magnetic of the classic monsters — not a bride waiting to be given away, but a woman who has just worked out what she is and finds the answer fascinating. Inspired by the 1935 film that made her an icon, the sculpt trades shrieking terror for something colder and far more interesting: she steps down off the laboratory plinth barefoot, a skull weighed thoughtfully in one raised hand, while the machinery that made her still crackles at her back.

Stitched, Corseted, and Entirely Unafraid

Every surface here is doing work. The towering finger-waved bouffant is carved wave by wave, and beneath it the sculpt commits fully to the surgery — a seam running the length of one cheek, fine sutures crossing the brow and the outer eye, and a line of stitches drawn back from the corner of the mouth like a smile someone else designed. Her gaze is heavy-lidded and turned down, serene in a way that reads as far more unsettling than a snarl. More stitchwork threads across the collarbone, half-hidden by the slipped shoulder of a draped gown, and the waist is cinched into a tightly boned corset that laces in a long cross-hatch straight up the spine.

Gauze winds from wrist to shoulder on both arms, one length left trailing loose in the air, and the same wrappings spiral down a leg bared by the high slit of the skirt. Behind her, a great sweep of fabric train curls out and settles across the base. That base is a machine in its own right: a riveted plinth of cracked stone and bolted steel, a spoked flywheel turning on its drive belt, a generator housing, coiled conduit and heavy hoses snaking across the plate, and a single pressure gauge set into the stonework. Two tiered Tesla coils rise on either side, each capped with a fractured sphere and ringed by ribbons of electricity frozen mid-arc — and she rests her fingertips on one of them, casually, the way you would steady yourself on a bannister. Even the skull cradled in her other hand is fully realised, its own cranial sutures traced across the crown.
