Swagger in Lace and Leather
The pose does the talking. He leans back into a loose, contented stance, eyes half closed, fingers twisting the moustache while the other hand tucks in at his waist, the rapier hanging untouched from the baldric behind him. The costume is full period dress: a broad-brimmed hat with a tall sweep of plume, a scalloped lace collar over a buttoned doublet with fringed epaulettes and ruffled cuffs, a baldric crossing the chest, a sash knotted at the back, baggy breeches and tall cuffed boots creased from wear. He stands on a cobbled round base beside a wooden barrel draped in a fringed cloth bearing the fleur-de-lis, a matching tankard set on top and a lantern at his feet.
