Something came out of the water and picked the wrong man. This Conan figure model kit from Polymind Studio is an original take on the barbarian at the worst moment of somebody else's day — a blade cocked back low, one of the creature's own tentacles caught and held fast in his raised fist, and the rest of it closing in from every side of the rock.

A Fight Sculpted in the Round

The pose is built out of opposites and it works from any angle. The right arm drives back low with a short blade reversed along the forearm, the left holds a captured tentacle high, and the torso twists hard between them — obliques bunched, ribs showing under the strain, the whole body caught at the instant before it uncoils. His face is doing the same work: teeth bared, brow low, long hair swept back off a face that is furious rather than heroic. Wrapped bindings run up both forearms, an earring swings clear of the jaw, and a medallion sits at the throat on a cord.

Everything below the belt is texture and threat. A broad buckled belt carries a dagger sheath and a capped drinking horn over a fur-trimmed loincloth, boots planted wide on broken rock. The creature is the reason the piece needs a big base: four thick tentacles rise around him, ridged along their undersides, each one tapering to a splayed star-shaped tip that opens like a flower with teeth. They coil across the stone and over the skulls of whoever came here first, the whole animal sculpted so it frames the figure without ever hiding him.
