Somebody has had a good morning at the river. The Wayfarers figure model kit from Kuton Figurines is an original fantasy piece with no battle in it at all — a young traveller and his enormous cat walking home along a stony track, the day's catch swinging from a stick over his shoulder.
Two Travellers and Everything They Own
The boy carries the whole story in his face. Curly hair falling over pointed ears, cheeks still round, and a closed-mouth grin aimed sideways at nothing in particular — the expression of somebody deeply pleased with himself and trying not to show it. His clothes have been lived in: a loose shirt frayed at the hem and torn at the sleeve, patched shorts with a mended knee, a cord pendant at the throat, and a peeled branch balanced across one shoulder with two fat fish hanging from it by the gills, scales and fins carved individually.
His companion is the reason to buy the kit. A lynx the size of a pony pads along beside him mid-stride, one forepaw lifted and toes spread — tufted ears standing tall, a ruff of long fur breaking around the jaw in carved strands, and a wide flat face with a broad nose and half-lidded eyes that suggest the cat is doing this as a favour. It is loaded like a pack animal: a buckled harness across the chest, a rolled bedroll, corded pouches, a slung waterskin and clay pots riding at both flanks. Underneath them both, a shelf of broken rock with grass tufts pushing up between the stones and a scatter of loose pebbles across the dirt.
