Deadpan, Uniformed, and Never Alone
The sculpt is all restraint, which is the joke and the craft of it. Wednesday stands square with her chin fractionally raised, twin braids falling past a face that gives away nothing, a book clutched to her chest like armour, its cover engraved with a sunburst and skull. Diklich Art has cut the Nevermore uniform sharply, from the crested blazer and the knit beneath it to the collared shirt, the striped tie, the long pleated skirt and the heavy lug-soled shoes. Thing perches on her left shoulder, fingers curled over the lapel, his stitched wrist and scarred knuckles picked out in fine relief. The round base carries the emblem of Nevermore Academy, so the whole piece reads as one scene rather than a figure on a disc.
